Ferryville, Wisconsin, is a charming village nestled along the Mississippi River in southwestern Wisconsin. Perched between the river and the bluffs, it offers a blend of natural beauty, outdoor adventures, and a rich history.

Originally named "Humble Bush," Ferryville earned its current name in the mid-19th century when ferry service across the Mississippi River was established. The village is part of the Wisconsin Great River Road National Scenic Byway, offering picturesque views and historical landmarks.

Former Governor Patrick J. Lucey, who served as Wisconsin's governor from 1971 to 1977, was born in La Crosse, Wisconsin, and grew up in the village of Ferryville, Wisconsin. He graduated from Campion High School in nearby Prairie du Chien in 1935 and later attended St. Thomas College in Saint Paul, Minnesota. After serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, Lucey earned a B.A. in philosophy from the University of Wisconsin in 1946. In recognition of his contributions, a Wisconsin Historical Society marker was placed in Ferryville in 2009, and in 2013, Wisconsin Highway 35 between Ferryville and Prairie du Chien was renamed the "Governor Patrick Lucey Highway" in his honor. (You will have to ask LeNae how he is related to her husband Adam)
